What do we do?
A residential home inspection involves inspecting and describing the major systems of the home (roof, structure, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical), as well as the interior and insulation/ventilation. We follow the ASHI Standard of Practice in our residential home inspections and reports. (Other services may vary, see here for more details.) Our goal is to make sure you understand what you're looking at when buying a home, whether there are no major issues to be aware of, or if the foundation has shifted significantly and the home is riddled with electrical fire hazards. We strive to be as objective as possible, not alarmist, but we won't sugarcoat things. We want you to understand the whole picture, warts and all.
What don't we do?
We firmly believe that the job of an inspector is to inform and educate, not make a decision for you. We won't grade a house, give it a score, or pass/fail it, and we certainly won't tell you whether or not you should buy a house. The reasons for buying a house are as individual as you are, and ultimately that decision is yours.
The Team
Jason Laughman, Founder / Lead Inspector
An ASHI Certified Inspector, Jason has performed hundreds of inspections in his over five years of experience in inspecting. After a long career in the telecom industry working with some of the biggest companies in the sector, he is acutely aware of how seemingly independent systems interact and can maintain a big picture view while focusing on the details of the various systems in the home. Jason is also accomplished at breaking down complex concepts into understandable terms, without talking down to the new buyer.
Jason is also ICC electrical code certified, as well as certified to perform ASHI Standard Deck Inspections.
